Abstract | The transition which is currently sweeping through Central and Eastern European countries has shaken the foundations of the vocational education and training systems in these countries.... They all have in fact initiated reforms in the structure, organization and management of their systems of vocational education and training.... Monitoring the changes that are taking place in the management process in particular, analyzing the present conditions of the vocational education and training institutions and evaluating the impact of some of the measures which have been taken is essential for policy makers and educational administrators. Such were the objectives of a programme undertaken by the IIEP with the support of the European Commission (DG XII) within the framework of the NESa/ Epicures project. This programme aimed at training researchers from Central and Eastern European countries in the area of the management of the vocational education and training system, thus contributing to the building of national research capacities in the region.... Five researchers from Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania and Poland were thus selected ... to come to the IIEP for two weeks to select a research topic and to develop a proposal with the help of the IIEP. The research was then carried out in their own country. The four reports of this document is the result of this research. The first part gives an outline of the major research findings and reflects the discussions of the workshop. The second part of the volume includes the four national research reports. One of them concerning Estonia, is focused on the main indicators for a diagnosis of the VET system. The others deal more broadly with the management and the reform of the system. (DIPF/orig.). |
